Family Resources
Whether your girl is in K-1 grade, 2-3 grade, 4-5 grade, 6-8 grade, 9-10 grade or 11-12 grade, there are many “pathways” in which she can participate through Girl Scouting:
Troop – Meeting regularly in their community with the same group of girls and adults on a year-round basis.
Events – Different girls and episodic volunteers at one-day programs sponsored locally or regionally.
Travel – Regional, national or international trips are available to girls and travel chaperons, guides or host volunteers.
Camp – Girls attend day or resident camp programs to meet new friends, learn new skills over a series of days or even weeks!
Series – Girls and volunteers attend multiple sessions to explore common goals or interests.
As a family member of a Girl Scout who participates in any of the five pathways, you can receive information from Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania through:
S’MORE Magazine is mailed twice a year (January 15 and July 15) – one copy to every registered household. S’MORE is available online in an interactive e-zine format; and additional copies can be obtained at our Girl Scout council shops. S’MORE also has its own Facebook group.
Facebook pages include: Camp Conshatawba, Camp Redwing, Camp Hawthorne Ridge, Camp Elliott, Camp Skymeadow and Camp Singing Hills where events and photos are posted, and where summer campers can stay connected. Girl Scout Gold Awardees – WPA connects former and aspiring Gold Awardees on Facebook; and GSWPA’s Facebook page also posts events for families and girls of all ages, and our Alumnae Association Facebook page keeps former members connected.
@aGirl e-newsletter – sent every-other month includes program and merchandise updates, activity ideas, and special offers. Sign up to receive your copy on our homepage.
Legacy – our donor newsletter is mailed to all financial contributors of $25/annually; and is also available online in the publications section of our newsroom.
Our Web site – updated weekly, provides the most current listing of events and opportunities to you and your girl.
Finally, if you’re like many busy families, having reminders of registration dates is greatly appreciated. If you have a Twitter account, simply sign up for tweets on S’more Fun Events: SmoreKto3 (for Daisies and Brownies in grades K-3), Smore4to5 (for Juniors in grades 4-5), Smore6to12 (for Cadette, Senior and Ambassadors in grades 6-12). There’s no need to miss another registration deadline!
